i just used my 50mm 1.8 lens and my macro filters. But you need to use a fairly small aperture (f/5.6 or f/8 is fine) to get the defined and clear detail as the macro filters produce a VERY shallow depth of field which doesn't always allow you to capture much detail.

thanks a lot ! it was just ordinary macro filters, you can buy them very cheap from ebay (i got mine for £10)
Which lens did you use to get this close up and get the eye so defined and clear? absolutely amazing, I have been trying to capture images like this!
